A Executive Summary — the Big Picture

Monday was the day the oil market priced the deal and nothing else did. Brent lost $8.66 (−7.63%) to $104.77 and WTI $7.66 (−7.36%) to $96.46 — the largest one-day drop since July 27 — on three inputs that arrived in sequence: a Qatar-circulated draft to end the war, "circulated for feedback" after Iran's negotiators left Doha "not because of any problems"; President Pezeshkian's statement that the Supreme Leader "has given certain authorities to the government" to negotiate; and a one-word answer from Trump, asked after his Reflecting Pool speech whether he is considering striking Iran after the election — "No." Vance added that there is "a pathway there" on the nuclear file and set no deadline. By the evening Trump was posting that oil was "DROPPING LIKE A ROCK… Iran wants a settlement, as soon as possible. It could happen!" That is the de-escalation package the desk has been scoring at 25–30% for a month, and the oil market moved as if it were 60%. Nothing else did: Polymarket's Hormuz-agreement-by-November-30 contract is 25%, unchanged from Sunday; the December-31 contract is 33%, unchanged; Reuters' Iranian sources said privately that a renewed US attack is "still more likely than a deal"; Baghaei's two-day formula still requires the US to end the port blockade, issue an oil waiver and cancel new sanctions on day one before Iran reopens Hormuz on day two, with the nuclear file deferred until Tehran verifies every condition and the HEU transfer answered with "no." The written reply to the Vance letter is still not delivered. A $9 move on an unchanged probability is not information; it is positioning — the record-high war premium (~$40) meeting a weekend with no escalation and a President who wants the number down on election day. Goldman raised its December Brent forecast to $105 from $90 the same morning the market fell to $105, and put the residual premium at ~$27 — that is the market pricing a 5 mb/d Gulf loss for six months, not a deal.

Equities read the same tape correctly and differently. The Dow gained 0.41% and the equal-weight S&P 0.76%, with breadth 1,027 to 473 and discretionary (+2.41%), financials (+1.86%), materials (+1.76%) and staples (+1.58%) leading on cheaper energy and a lower rate path; the cap-weighted S&P lost 0.51% and the Nasdaq-100 1.39% because the AI complex had its own day — Intel −29% on a $15–16B Q4 guide, Oracle −8.76% on a $20B bond-and-stock raise, Marvell −12.7%, Lumentum −18.6%, AMD −7.5% into its own print tonight — and then Apple, the last Mag-7 report and the one "without a capex problem," beat on everything that was already known ($114.48B revenue +12%, EPS $2.10 vs $2.00, iPhone $57.58B, Services a record $31.57B, FY26 $479B) and guided down on everything that matters: December-quarter revenue growth of 7–10%, the lowest in five calls, a gross margin of 45–46% against 47.9% just printed, Services growth of 8–9% against the 10.7% consensus, and "higher memory costs as compared to the June quarter" that $100 iPhone price increases only partly offset. The stock was flat on the release and −4% during the call. The sector tells: technology −2.95% and energy −3.96% on the same day is a market selling both of its October hedges; the VIX rose 8.9% to 21.15 on a day the Dow went up, which is an election-night straddle (1.84% implied into Friday), not fear.

Rates did the thing the desk said they would and the thing it did not expect, in the same session. The 10-year fell 3.5bp to 4.893% and the 30-year 4.1bp to 5.268% while the 2-year rose 0.2bp — a long-end-led bull-flattening that took 2s10s from +38bp to +31bp. That is oil (−8%) and the October CPI nowcast (+0.24% m/m, November 10) doing the Fed's work at the long end, while the front end stayed pinned by an ISM manufacturing print of 55.5 (consensus 54.6, tenth month of expansion, production 59.0 — the highest since November 2021, prices paid 75.2) and a December hike that re-priced from 72% to 76% on the day. The curve is now telling two stories at once: the belly says the inflation impulse peaks with oil; the 30-year at 5.27% says the fiscal regime does not — Treasury's Q4 borrowing estimate came in at $618B (−$10B) with Q1-27 at $800B, and Wednesday's refunding decides whether 20Y/30Y sizes are cut into a market that would take the signal gratefully. Goolsbee, the Fed's most dovish voter, said there is "plenty of room for anything on the table as far as a rate hike or pause," which is the sound of a doubter who has stopped arguing.

Gold and silver gave the cleanest read of the day. Gold rose 1.5% to $3,957 and silver 3.2% to $50.68 on a session in which oil crashed and the war probability — as the prediction market scores it — did not change. That is gold trading on the rate path (lower oil → lower CPI nowcast → a 30-year 4bp lower) rather than on the war, exactly the thesis the desk carried through October's −7.2%: gold is not a safe haven in this conflict because the conflict is inflationary and the Fed is hawkish; gold is the asset that benefits from the war ending, not from the war. The gold/oil ratio moved from ~34 to 37.7 in a day and is still half its January level (78). The PBoC bought 23 tonnes in September, its largest month since October 2023 and 23rd in a row; India's 6,500-tonne silver import permit window (~90% of all of 2025's imports) runs into Diwali on November 8. Bitcoin did the opposite and told its own truth: −2% to $76.7k, through the October 31 low, on a day when the Nasdaq-100 fell 1.4% and gold rose 1.5%. The asset is a Nasdaq beta with an ETF overhang (Friday −$643M; 2026 net flow down to ~$0.36B) and a treasury-company bid that is now underwater — Strategy bought 811 BTC at $80,846 last week against an average cost of $75,451 that spot is below. Morgan Stanley downgraded Coinbase to underweight with a $120 target, −53% — the sell-side is capitulating on the venue layer the week after the largest venue was hacked.

Cycle and regime

Late-cycle, nominal-growth-led, with a supply shock that the market spent Monday pricing as temporary. The US is 3.4% real / 5.6% nominal Q3 growth, GDPNow Q4 3.2%, ISM 55.5, headline CPI 3.7% with core 2.6%, PCE 3.6% / core 3.1%, unemployment 4.2% on a +29k September payroll, claims 194k — overheat in prices, stall in hiring, and now an ISM employment index back above 50 (52.4). The world outside is less bad than Saturday's NBS print suggested: RatingDog's export-tilted China PMI printed 52.0 against a 51.6 consensus with output growth the fastest in six months, Korea's KOSPI rose 2.2% on the memory names, and the STOXX 600 closed at a two-month high. The all-weather quadrant is unchanged at Rising Growth / Rising Inflation. The trend arrow, for the first time since the war began, points toward Rising Growth / Falling Inflation — conditionally, on an oil price that is $9 lower than it was on Friday for reasons that are 25% priced in the one market that scores them. The desk holds the quadrant and moves the trend; it does not move the base case on a Monday that is also the day before an election.

Beautiful deleveraging — policy adequacy

The policy mix is the same as it was and the market's tolerance for it improved by $9 a barrel. Monetary policy is restrictive by stated intent and loose by the Fed's own transmission: financial conditions are easing through the long end (10Y −3.5bp, 30Y −4bp) at the same time the Fed's hawks (Musalem "soon," Logan "at least two more," now Goolsbee "anything on the table") argue for the opposite. Fiscal policy is the unresolved variable. The Pentagon's reported cost of the war is $47.1B through October 16 — $204M a day, up from $38B in September — with $29B of that munitions replacement; the administration is reported to be seeking up to $70B in emergency funding on top of the unapproved $87.6B June supplemental; the FY26 deficit is $2T with more than half of it interest; debt is above $40T, 126% of GDP. Tuesday's election decides who writes the supplemental, and Kalshi has that at 94% House / 74% Senate Democratic. A Democratic Congress funds the war it criticises and litigates the AUMF; a Republican one funds it without the litigation. Either way the 30-year is the bill, and Wednesday's refunding is the first auction-size decision taken in full knowledge of the cost. Policy is adequate to the inflation it has; it is not adequate to the deficit it is building, and the long end knows it.

What the market is not pricing. That the oil crash and the unchanged deal probability can both be right only if the strike probability fell — and the strike probability did fall on Monday, on Trump's "No," Vance's "no deadline" and a weekend with no escalation. The market has removed the strike premium; it has not added a deal premium. That is the right first step and the wrong resting place: the two-day formula still requires the US to lift the blockade before Iran reopens the strait, Washington still wants nuclear concessions first, Israel's caretaker government still wants strikes before it loses the pen on November 11, and MS NOW's Gulf officials still carry November 4 as the earliest strike date. A $105 Brent with $27 of premium is priced for a long clock. The 25% contract is priced for no deal. One of those is wrong by the weekend, and the asymmetric position is to own oil volatility, not direction.

C Cross-Asset Analysis — Druckenmiller Lens

Bonds vs. equities

Monday resolved last week's apparent disagreement in the simplest way: the bond market and the equity market agreed, and the equity index disagreed with its own internals. The 10-year fell 3.5bp and the 30-year 4.1bp while the 2-year was unchanged — a bull-flattener led by the long end, which is what a 35bp October rally looks like when it gets an $8.66 oil crash on top. The equal-weight S&P (+0.76%), the S&P 400 (+0.80%) and the S&P 600 (+0.78%) rallied with duration; the cap-weighted index (−0.51%) fell with its semiconductors. Both sides of that are the same trade: a lower terminal rate and a lower inflation impulse are good for the 490 stocks that borrow and bad for the 10 that are priced on a capex cycle whose financing just got harder — Oracle raising $20B in bonds and stock on the day Intel guided $1–2B below consensus and Apple guided its gross margin down 190–290bp on memory costs is a sector whose marginal dollar is now debt-funded and margin-dilutive. The December hike moved up to 76% from 72% on the ISM (55.5; production 59.0) and the front end did not rally, which is the piece the equity bulls need to re-read: the Fed is not easing because oil fell; the long end is easing because the inflation term structure flattened. That is a steepener coming out (2s10s +38 → +31) and a 30-year at 5.27% that still carries a $2T deficit, a $618B quarter of borrowing and a refunding on Wednesday. The curve is pricing a longer war clock and a slower AI capex clock at once; it is not pricing a Fed that moves in either direction before December 9.

Risk assets vs. safe havens

The haven map re-drew itself on Monday and the new map is cleaner. Gold (+1.5%) and silver (+3.2%) rallied on a de-escalation signal, through a flat dollar, with the war probability unchanged — which settles the question the desk has been asking since the January peak: the metals are not a war hedge in this conflict, they are a real-rate hedge whose enemy is the inflationary war and whose friend is the end of it. The Swiss franc (+0.6% vs USD) was the only classical haven that was bought as a haven; the yen was not (157.88); the dollar index was flat (101.78). Oil (−7.6%) and energy equities (−3.96%) were sold as a war hedge, which is what they were. Bitcoin (−2%) was sold with the Nasdaq-100 (−1.4%), which is what it is. Credit was the outlier: high-yield widened to 340bp intraday, an 18-month high, on a day the Dow rose — the AI-capex issuers (Oracle's $10B) are the marginal supply, and the credit market is pricing the capex cycle's financing risk ahead of the equity market pricing its earnings risk. Positioning read: the metals rally is a short-covering bounce off a one-year low with RSI 22.8 in silver and managed-money silver longs at 2.9% of OI; it extends if Wednesday's refunding cuts long-end sizes and the 30-year rallies through 5.20%, and it fails at $4,023 (gold 50-EMA) if the Nov 10 CPI nowcast rises with any oil bounce. India's 6,500-tonne silver permit window into Diwali is the physical bid under the paper bounce.

Liquidity conditions

Global liquidity is contracting at the policy rate and expanding at the asset-price margin, which is the late-cycle configuration. The Fed is at 3.75–4.00% with a 76% December hike; the BoE hikes Thursday to 4.00%, the RBA at 03:30 GMT to 4.85% (an 18-year high), the Riksbank and Norges Bank this week; the ECB held at 2.50% debating a hike into a 3.8–4.0% flash CPI on Wednesday. China is the exception and the one that matters for the commodity complex: the PBoC's ¥100bn swap facility, regulators meeting institutions on capital-market support, and a RatingDog PMI (52.0) that says the export economy is fine while the NBS PMI (49.3) says the domestic economy is not — the policy response is to the second number, and the CSI 300 (+0.8%) and STAR 50 (+3%) are the first assets to price it. The private channel: Treasury's $618B Q4 borrowing estimate and an $850B end-December cash balance mean bill supply is the drain; Treasury clearing (cash Dec 31) is the plumbing risk. Crypto liquidity is the clearest contraction on the board — the ETF channel is net −$516M for October and ~+$0.36B for the year, exchange on-chain assets fell 12% in a week on the Binance exit, and the stablecoin float is down 1.4% in seven days on DefiLlama's series. The oil crash is a liquidity event in disguise: $9 off Brent is ~$150B of annualised consumer cash flow restored and a 10-year that can rally — for as long as it holds.

Dollar implications

The dollar did nothing through an 8% oil move, a 4bp long-end rally, a 1.5% gold rally and a 2.2% KOSPI rally; the DXY closed −0.10% at 101.78, inside the range it has held since the 102.95 high on October 14. That is the dollar as a residual, not a driver — the Fed is hawkish but so is everyone else, and the growth-scare curve is a dollar-neutral curve. The moves that matter are at the edges: USD/CNH at 6.645 is the strongest yuan since June 2022 against a 6.7146 fix that the PBoC is using to lean against strength, which is Beijing choosing export competitiveness over capital-flight protection at a moment the export PMI is at 52; USD/MXN −1.5% and USD/CHF −0.6% are the two currencies that priced the oil crash as a growth positive and a haven bid respectively; EUR/PLN at a three-year low (4.41) and the OAT–Bund spread at 165bp are Europe's fiscal stress leaking into FX one country at a time. For asset allocation: a flat dollar with falling oil is the configuration that favours EM equities (KOSPI, Nifty 23,441 at a 2-month high), non-US cyclicals (IBEX +1.63%, CAC +0.98%) and gold over the US mega-cap complex; a Democratic sweep is mildly dollar-negative on the fiscal read (ING) and the 30-year is the instrument that transmits it. Watch: AUD on the RBA ("sell the fact" below 0.70), USD/JPY 157.5–158 (BoJ December hike signalled; Ueda Friday), and the yuan fix — a fix that moves toward spot is Beijing accepting strength, and that is a commodity-positive, dollar-negative signal the market is not positioned for.

D Scenario Matrix — All-Weather Quadrants

Probabilities are the desk's 3-month assignments, re-scored daily. NOW = current quadrant · TREND = direction of travel after Monday's tape.

Rising Growth + Rising Inflation NOW

Probability 38% (from 42%)

The data quadrant: ISM 55.5 with production at a five-year high and prices paid 75.2, GDPNow 3.2%, headline CPI 3.7% accelerating, core PCE 3.1%, nominal growth 5.6%. Fed hikes in December (76%); 10Y 4.85–5.10%; 30Y 5.25–5.45%; S&P 7,300–7,700 with the equal-weight leading; gold range-bound $3,850–4,050; silver $48–54; BTC $72–80k. Oil $100–115 keeps it here. Long: equal-weight, financials, materials, energy on dips, short duration. Short: long-duration tech, 30Y.

Rising Growth + Falling Inflation TREND

Probability 30% (from 22%)

Monday's quadrant if it holds: Brent ≤$105, the Oct CPI nowcast +0.24% prints Nov 10, December slips below 60%, and the long end rallies through 5.20% on refunding cuts. S&P 7,700–8,000 led by cyclicals and small caps (RTY >2,900); 10Y 4.60–4.85%; gold $4,100–4,300 (real-rate hedge works); BTC $82–90k (the ETF channel reopens on the Nasdaq); DXY 100–101. Requires the Doha draft to survive the weekend and a Gulf capacity hit not to happen. The prediction market says 25%; the oil market says 60%; the desk says 30% and rising.

Falling Growth + Rising Inflation

Probability 24% (from 28%)

Post-midterm strikes + a Gulf capacity loss: Brent $125–140, headline CPI >4%, ISM services <52, claims >230k. Stagflation: Fed hikes into a slowdown; 2s10s bear-steepens; 30Y >5.50%; K3 red; S&P 6,800–7,200; gold falls first ($3,700) then rises as the Fed path breaks; BTC $60–68k. The caretaker window (Nov 4–11) and the MS NOW Nov 4 date keep this a live scenario despite Trump's "No." Still the largest tail in the book.

Falling Growth + Falling Inflation

Probability 8%

A deal that lands into an AI-capex bust: Brent $80, the Nasdaq-100 −20% from the peak, credit (HY >400bp) breaks first, construction spending (−1.9%) and Intel/Oracle are the leading indicators. Fed cuts in Q1-27; 10Y 4.00–4.40%; curve bull-steepens; gold $4,400+; BTC $55–65k; dollar down. Low probability, highest asymmetry for long bonds — the only quadrant in which 30-year duration is the best asset in the book.

Assessment. Current quadrant: Rising Growth / Rising Inflation, unchanged. The trend arrow flipped on Monday for the first time since the war began — toward Rising Growth / Falling Inflation — on a $9 oil move that the one market that scores the deal did not confirm. The desk moves 8 points of probability along that arrow and keeps the stagflation quadrant above 20% because the strike window is open through November 11 and the two-day formula has not been accepted by either side. The next inputs are, in order: the midterm result (fiscal path, AUMF politics), Wednesday's refunding (long-end supply), Friday's NFP (40–65k consensus; a negative print with ISM prices >75 is the stagflation confirmation), and the Oct CPI on November 10. A Brent close below $100 moves the trend quadrant to 35%; a Brent close above $115 moves it back to 20%.

E Sector & Theme Spotlight

Momentum / inflection

Theme 1 · The equal-weight regime

RSP +0.76% vs SPY −0.51%

Oct: RSP +5.0% vs SPY −0.9% — 2nd-largest EW outperformance since 2003

Monday confirmed it on a down-oil day: discretionary +2.41%, financials +1.86%, materials +1.76%, staples +1.58%, with breadth 1,027/473. The mechanism is not a rotation out of AI — it is a rotation out of AI's financing. Oracle's $20B raise, Intel's guide and Apple's 45–46% margin are three different ways of saying the capex cycle is now paid for with margin and debt, not free cash flow. The 490 stocks that benefit from a lower 10-year and $9 cheaper oil are the trade; the 10 that need the 10-year lower to justify their multiples are the funding leg. Watch RTY 2,900 and S&P 400 3,700 as the confirmation levels; a close in RSP above its October high with the NDX below 28,000 is the regime.

Theme 2 · Memory is the new oil

Hynix +3.8% · Kioxia −16% · AAPL GM 45–46%

Korea Oct exports +93.7% y/y; Apple: "higher memory costs as compared to the June quarter"

The AI build is now a memory-price shock transmitted to every device maker's gross margin: Apple guided 190–290bp of margin compression and dodged the question on further price rises; Kioxia fell 16% on a cautious outlook the same day Hynix rose 3.8% and Samsung 1.8% — the shock is pricing power moving up the chain to the DRAM/NAND oligopoly and away from the assemblers. The KOSPI's +2.2% on a Nasdaq −1.1% day is the cleanest expression. Korea's 2027 budget (+12.8%) and a won at its strongest since Oct 2024 say the policy mix is accommodating the boom. The risk is the same as oil's: a demand-destruction price. Apple at a 45% margin is the first customer to say so out loud.

Theme 3 · The de-escalation basket

Airlines ▲ · Energy −3.96% · TTF −10%

IBEX +1.63%, CAC +0.98%, MXN +1.5%, CHF +0.6%

Monday's one-day template for what a deal trades like: European airlines and peripheral indices up, energy producers down, TTF −10% with EU storage at 74.6%, Mexico and the Swiss franc bid, Brent–WTI narrowing to $8.3, the 30-year rallying. The desk's "deal basket" (long European cyclicals + airlines + XLY vs short XLE + short TTF) returned ~4% in one session on a 25%-probability event. It is now a basket that has priced a third of the deal; the remaining two-thirds pay if the draft becomes a text, and it gives back everything on a November 4–11 strike. Size it as an option, not a position.

Contrarian — second-level thinking

Contrarian 1 · Energy equities after a −3.96% day

XLE −3.96% on Brent −7.6%

Iraq exports >3.4 mb/d (near pre-war); OPEC Sept output still >3 mb/d below pre-war

First-level: the deal is coming, sell energy. Second-level: a $105 Brent with a $27 premium is a price at which every US producer prints record free cash flow and the Gulf's 5 mb/d of lost supply has not come back and will not for months after any deal (Ras Laffan's two LNG trains are a three-year repair; Ras Tanura's cracker was hit a week ago). Goldman raised its December forecast to $105 on Monday — the market fell to Goldman's number, not through it. Energy at −3.96% is pricing the end of the premium and none of the duration of the supply loss. Buy the producers with the lowest Gulf exposure and the highest buyback yield on the next down day; the position is long the supply loss, hedged against the deal with Brent puts.

Contrarian 2 · Gold miners into a metal that trades on rates

Gold $3,957 (+1.5%) · −12% below 200-DMA

GLD week −$1.1B; MM net long +105,562; PBoC +23t Sept

First-level: gold fell 7.2% in October and the Street is cutting targets (Goldman $4,650, StoneX $3,000). Second-level: the October decline was a real-rate event (10Y real 2.60%, Dec hike 84%), and Monday proved the sensitivity runs both ways — a 4bp long-end rally and an 8% oil drop were worth +1.5% in gold and +3.2% in silver. If the deal trend quadrant is 30% and the stagflation quadrant is 24%, gold is the asset that wins in both the quadrant where real rates fall and the quadrant where the Fed loses control — it loses only in the base case. Miners at October's lows with $3,950 gold are priced for the base case. Buy the senior miners on a gold close above $4,023 (50-EMA); the stop is $3,870.

On-chain, flows and correlation

Bitcoin failed the test the desk set it on Sunday. The venue reopened without a run; the asset then fell 2% through its October 31 low on a Monday in which oil crashed, the long end rallied, gold rose 1.5% and the KOSPI rose 2.2% — the only two risk assets that fell were the Nasdaq-100 (−1.39%) and bitcoin, and they fell together. Block Scholes' 90-day BTC–gold correlation (51%, the highest since 2020) is a statistic about August through October; Monday's tape is the fact about now: bitcoin is a Nasdaq beta with an ETF overhang and a treasury-company bid that is underwater. Strategy's 8-K showed 811 BTC bought at $80,846 for $65.5M in the week to November 1, holdings 849,327 BTC (>4% of supply) at an average cost of $75,451 — spot is ~1.8% below the average cost of the largest corporate holder, which has $18.6B of ATM capacity left, an MSCI index decision on November 11 and a stock that fell 9.6% last week. The ETF channel printed −$643M on Friday and is net +$0.36B for the year; Monday's row is not published at compile and is the first datapoint of the week that matters. Coinbase premium −0.18 to −0.27% says US spot is the seller. On-chain plumbing is deteriorating in the way miners feel first: hashrate 1,069 EH/s, difficulty at a record 148.4T, hashprice $33.1k/EH/day (−14% in a month); the next adjustment (Nov 13) is modelled at −1.45%, the first negative since early October. Derivatives are positioned for a range: Nov 27 max pain $80k, Dec 25 $75k, open interest 285k BTC (~$22B), a 4,610-lot 82/85k call spread sold and $590M of $74–78k put blocks bought through Paradigm — that is a market paying for the $73k test, not for the $85k break.

Binance — day three

Binance's Oct 31 proof-of-reserves snapshot verified ten assets (BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD, ZEC) at 1:1; the zk-SNARK proof slipped to "by Tuesday UTC" on 40–50 hours of compute, and the next snapshot is Wednesday — the snapshot pre-dates the withdrawal wave, so Wednesday's is the one that counts. The exit is slowing: Binance's own tally was −$3.64B net in the first 9.5 hours (2.1% of $171B); DefiLlama's 24-hour peak of ~$7B fell to $3.29B by Monday; on-chain tracked assets fell from $144.9B (Oct 29) to $128.3B (Nov 2), −12%. Nine of ten dollars went to private wallets, not competitors (OKX +$368M, Coinbase +984 BTC, Kraken +1,422 BTC). Recovery is 95% from the balance sheet (SAFU, the futures insurance fund, the BTC reserve, treasury) with 5% in illiquid tokens still being bought back; 21 of 252 assets were open at the last count. The hacker: Elliptic's Nov 2 update puts the theft at $6.43B (54% stablecoins), $2.85B frozen or seized (44%), ~$786M converted pre-freeze, ~$3.24B still in linked addresses — ~68,700 ETH across ~850 addresses with the top nine (89%) unmoved since Oct 30, 18,270 BTC in 19 addresses unmoved, all 233M XRP (~$293M) moved to six fresh wallets at 02:12–04:00 UTC Monday, ~970k SOL being swapped to BTC via Relay, ≥$147M bridged off Tron, ~$242M laundered in two days (Relay $48M, THORChain $44M, Chainflip $32M). The ETH figure conflicts with the 519k ETH carried in the Nov 2 edition from the earlier TRM/Elliptic reads; the desk carries Elliptic's latest and flags the discrepancy. THORChain's operators are non-committal on the FBI's 628-address blocklist; no OFAC action has been found. The overhang is smaller than Sunday's number and the same shape: a state actor with ~$3.2B who cannot sell to a regulated venue and is selling to everyone else.

Regulatory and institutional

Morgan Stanley downgraded Coinbase to underweight with a $120 target (from $258; −53% from Friday), cutting 2027 revenue 28% and EBITDA 47% and the multiple from 20× to 12×: Q3 transaction revenue was $590M (−44% y/y) and Q4 is tracking ~$165M through October 25. COIN closed ~$137.80 (−4%) after −10% last week. The CFTC's Selig used the hack to argue for the Reg CTX/CAM framework (federal exchange licence, proof-of-reserves requirements, broker routing) — "proves our exact point" on "unregulated offshore exchanges." The CLARITY market-structure bill is stalled 49–50 in the Senate and its fate is Tuesday's: a Democratic Senate (74% on Kalshi) rewrites it; the first post-midterm SEC/CFTC nominations are the tell. Galaxy's Q2 13F read is the institutional story the price is reflecting: the hedge-fund/bank cohort (Millennium, Brevan Howard, Goldman, Capula, Farallon, D.E. Shaw, Schonfeld, Tudor) cut ~68,000 BTC of IBIT (~$5.4B) as the basis fell from 7.9% to 4.8%; the buyers were Mubadala, ADIC and Morgan Stanley wealth. The basis-trade exit is a mechanical seller that does not care about the war, the hack or the election; it cares about the spread to T-bills, which is 0.6 points.

War impact on crypto

Digital gold or tech proxy? Tech proxy, settled on Monday: BTC −2% with the NDX −1.4% while gold rose 1.5% on a de-escalation day. The 90-day BTC–gold correlation (51%) is a legacy of the summer; the live beta is to the Nasdaq. BTC has outperformed gold since the war began (headline claim ~36%, unverified) because both fell and gold fell more in October — a relative-strength fact, not a haven fact.

BTC vs gold through the conflict Jan peak → now: gold −27% from the record ($5,400 → $3,957); BTC −39% from the Oct ATH ($126k → $76.7k). On the war's escalation days both fell; on Monday's de-escalation day gold rose and BTC fell. Neither is a haven; gold is a rates asset, BTC is a liquidity asset.

ETF flows through escalation / de-escalation Oct (escalation month, Brent +13.6%): −$516M. Friday (strike-window peak pricing): −$643M. Monday (de-escalation day): GAP at compile. The pattern since mid-October is that the channel sells escalation and does not buy de-escalation — it buys the Nasdaq, which was down.

Decoupling or correlating? Correlating with equities under stress, and specifically with the AI complex (COIN −11% Friday, MSTR −8%, Core Scientific −14% — all traded as Nasdaq high-beta). The one crypto asset that decoupled is BNB (+1% on the PoR), for idiosyncratic reasons.

Stablecoin flows as capital flight DefiLlama $296.2B (−1.37% 7d), USDT share 60.7%. The 7-day decline is the Binance exit converting to self-custody and fiat, not Gulf capital flight. Tether froze ~$1.8B of hack funds and ~$550M Iran-linked YTD; Circle 823M USDC. The Senate HSGAC report ($7.8B USDT moved by Iran in a year; 846 wallets, 87% USDT) remains the baseline for the sanctions-evasion channel.

Country-level adoption Iran: Hormuz "toll" payments reported in crypto (American Banker; content GAP). DPRK: the Binance proceeds are the largest state-actor crypto treasury in existence (~$3.2B) and are being laundered through Tron, THORChain, Relay and Chainflip at $100M+/day. Russia: no new window items. No new state-actor evidence beyond DPRK in the last 48 hours.

Mining and energy Hashrate 1,069 EH/s (7d avg), difficulty 148.4T record (+5.54% Oct 29), hashprice $33.1k/EH/day (−14% m/m). Monday's −8% oil and −10% TTF are a margin relief for gas-powered miners; the Nov 13 adjustment (−1.45% modelled) is the first sign of capitulation. Core Scientific −14% Friday.

DeFi TVL $85.1B (DefiLlama homepage; +0.24% 24h). Prior-series $95.6B is a scope difference. Hyperliquid $1.93B (+10% 7d) — the venue that gained share from the hack. Aave carries the attacker's 19,762 ETH loan against 59.9M USDT. Ethereum Teku/Besu certificate bug (Nov 1) is the infrastructure reminder.

Historical analogues Russia–Ukraine Feb 2022: BTC −8% in 48h, +15% in the following week, then −60% into the Fed. Israel–Hamas Oct 2023: BTC +25% in a month on the ETF filing. June 2025 Israel–Iran strikes: BTC −6% then recovered in 4 days. This war: BTC −39% from the ATH over 8 months with a hawkish Fed — the Fed, not the war, is the variable in every analogue.

G Conviction Views & Trade Ideas

HIGH Own oil volatility, not direction — long Brent Jan $115/$125 call spread financed by $90 puts

Thesis. The oil market priced a 60% deal on Monday; the prediction market priced 25%, unchanged. Both cannot hold through the weekend. The two-day formula requires US capitulation on the blockade first; the caretaker window is open to Nov 11; MS NOW's Gulf officials still carry Nov 4. A strike takes Brent to $120–130 in a session; a signed text takes it to $85–90 (Goldman's no-premium ~$78 is the 2027 number). The strangle is cheap after an 8% day only because the market thinks it has resolved the binary. Risk/reward. Premium outlay 3–4% of notional; pays 3–5× on either tail; loses only if Brent sits $92–112 for six weeks, which is the one outcome the desk assigns the lowest probability. Levels. $100 (Monday low region; break = deal trend 35%), $110 (Friday's strike-window level), $117.64 (Oct high, expired Dec). Invalidation. A signed text with US blockade relief and Hormuz traffic >30/day: close the put leg, keep the calls as a hedge.

HIGH Long equal-weight / short cap-weight (RSP vs SPY), with the NDX as the funding leg

Thesis. Three sessions of evidence (Friday −1.8% SPX with RSP outperforming, Monday +0.76% vs −0.51%, October's 2nd-largest EW outperformance since 2003) that the AI complex is now margin-dilutive (Apple 45–46%), debt-financed (Oracle $20B) and guidance-negative (Intel), while the 490 benefit from a lower 10-year and $9 cheaper oil. AMD tonight and Qualcomm Wednesday are the next prints; the setup is asymmetric because the market now sells beats (Apple, Palantir) on guidance. Risk/reward. A 5–8% relative move over six weeks against a 3% stop; the pair was +1.3% on Monday alone. Levels. NDX 27,990 (Mon close), 27,000 (−14% from peak, the June base); RSP October high; RTY 2,900. Invalidation. An NDX close above 29,000 with SOX back above its 200-DMA; or a Fed that cuts (it will not before December).

MEDIUM Long gold on a close above $4,023, stop $3,870 — the asset that wins in two quadrants

Thesis. Monday proved gold's sensitivity is to the rate path, not the war: +1.5% on an 8% oil crash with the deal probability unchanged. Gold loses only in the base case (Rising Growth / Rising Inflation, 38%); it wins in the deal quadrant (real rates fall, 30%) and the stagflation quadrant once the Fed path breaks (24%). Silver +3.2% with RSI 22.8 and India's 6,500t permit window into Diwali is the higher-beta expression; managed-money silver longs at 2.9% of OI leave room. PBoC +23t in September is the structural bid. Risk/reward. $3,870 stop (−2%) against $4,300 (+9%) if the 30-year rallies through 5.20% on Wednesday's refunding. Levels. $3,971–3,982 (first resistance), $4,023 (50-EMA trigger), $4,490 (200-DMA target); silver $52 then $54. Invalidation. December hike odds >85% with a Brent bounce above $112.

MEDIUM Short BTC into $80–82k; buy only at the 200-DMA ($73,161) — the ETF channel is closed, the treasury bid is underwater

Thesis. Bitcoin traded as Nasdaq beta on a de-escalation day and broke its October low on no new crypto-specific bad news. The structural sellers (basis-trade exit at a 4.8% basis; ETF −$516M October; Coinbase premium negative) are mechanical and do not care about the election. Strategy is buying at $80.8k with an average cost of $75.5k that spot is below, and MSCI decides on November 11. The thief holds ~$3.2B and is selling daily. Risk/reward. Sell $80–82k (Nov 27 max pain / 50-DMA), target $73k (200-DMA), stop $84k; or buy $73–74k with a $70k stop for a $80k target. Levels. $77,204 (old low, now resistance), $76,611 (Monday low), $75,451 (Strategy cost), $73,161 (200-DMA), $70k (Polymarket 48% dip contract). Invalidation. A Farside day above +$500M, or a Nasdaq-100 close above 29,000.

LOW Tactical long 30Y into Wednesday's refunding (bull-flattener) — close by Friday

Thesis. The long end led Monday (−4.1bp) and Citi/Barclays expect 20Y/30Y size cuts or softened "several quarters" guidance; the $618B Q4 estimate was $10B lower than August. The bond is at 5.27% with a 2s10s of +31 and a MOVE of 100; the midterm result (Dem sweep 71%) is a fiscal negative that is already a consensus. Risk/reward. 10–15bp of rally on cuts (5.12–5.17%) against 8bp of selloff on unchanged sizes; a coupon-increase signal is the −20bp tail. Levels. 5.20% (target), 5.35% (stop), 5.50% (K3 red). Invalidation. Guidance naming coupon increases; a Brent bounce >$112; TIC September (Nov 18) showing a third month of Japan/China selling.

Top 3 tail risks

1 · The gap between $105 and 25% — a strike into a market that has removed the strike premium (Nov 4 → Nov 11)
Trump said "No" on Monday afternoon and the oil market took $9 off. The things that did not change: Netanyahu's request for strikes "immediately after" Nov 3; MS NOW's three Gulf officials with Nov 4 as the earliest date; CENTCOM's preparations complete; the Fort Bliss airlift; a caretaker government that loses the pen on Nov 11; the DNI's "advanced-stage" plots against US personnel; and Reuters' Iranian officials who privately see an attack as "more likely than a deal." A strike into Tuesday night's result lands on a market that has sold its energy hedge (XLE −3.96%), its vol hedge (VIX only 21) and its metals hedge (gold still −12% below the 200-DMA). Market package: Brent $120–130 in a session, 30Y 5.45–5.50%, Dec hike >85%, NDX −5%, BTC $68–72k, gold down first then up, KOSPI −4%. The probability fell on Monday; the cost of being wrong rose.

2 · A contested count with a strike window open
Kalshi has the Senate at 74% Democratic and the House at 94%; the polling environment is ~D+9 and Dube's simulations say Democrats survive a 2-point polling miss. The tail is not the result; it is the timing: California counts mail ballots to Nov 10, Maine is ranked-choice, Georgia runs off Dec 1. A Senate undecided for a week, a President who has already called the count in question, a refunding on Wednesday and a 30-year at 5.27% is a volatility regime, not an event — and it overlaps exactly with the Nov 4–11 caretaker window in Israel. Market package: VIX 25–28, 30Y +10–15bp on fiscal uncertainty, DXY bid as a haven, gold bid, BTC sold (it is a Nasdaq beta). The hedge is the one the market sold on Monday: vol.

3 · The AI-capex financing cliff — Oracle's $20B is the first of many
Oracle raised $10B in bonds and $10B in equity on the day Intel guided down $1–2B and Apple guided its margin down 190–290bp on memory costs. HY spreads are at an 18-month high (340bp) on a day the Dow rose. The complex has lost ~$5T in three weeks. AMD reports Tuesday, Qualcomm Wednesday, Lumentum Thursday (after −18.6% Monday). A second mega-cap equity raise or a failed bond deal turns the equity rotation into a credit event: HY >400bp, IG >110bp, the NDX through 27,000, the 10-year rallying for the wrong reason (quadrant 4). The crypto channel transmits it: COIN, MSTR, HOOD and the miners are all AI-high-beta now.

What changes the base case

The base case (status quo clock: Brent $100–115, 10Y 4.85–5.10%, S&P 7,400–7,750, BTC $73–80k, gold $3,850–4,050) breaks up on: a Doha text with US blockade relief on day one and Hormuz traffic above 30 transits a day (the Nov 30 contract through 45%); an October CPI at +0.2% on Nov 10 that takes December below 55%; a refunding that cuts 20Y/30Y sizes with the 30-year through 5.20%; or a Democratic sweep that the market reads as AUMF restraint rather than fiscal expansion. It breaks down on: NOTAMs, Gulf airspace closures and embassy drawdowns beyond Saudi (the strike sequence); a Gulf capacity hit (Ras Laffan, Abqaiq, a loaded VLCC inside the Gulf); an ISM services print <52 with a negative NFP on Friday and prices paid >75 (stagflation confirmed); a Farside day below −$500M with the Tron wallet active; or a refunding that names coupon increases. The single most informative number before Friday is Wednesday's refunding statement at 08:30 ET — it is the first Treasury decision taken with the election result and the $47.1B war cost both on the table.

Black swans — peripheral vision

Hormuz undersea cables. Khamenei's commanders meeting produced the threat; the Gulf's financial plumbing runs through them; there is no scenario table for it. Election-night cyber. The Binance vector (compromised DevOps endpoint) and the Ethereum client certificate bug are reminders that infrastructure risk is correlated; an election-infrastructure incident with a strike window open is the overlap no model carries. Taiwan. MND counts for Nov 1–2 were not retrievable (GAP); the Oct 28–29 concentration (53 vessels, 34 warships) is the last datapoint; APEC Shenzhen is Nov 18–19, a window in which Beijing wants calm and a reason to watch the week after. Russian refining. Ukraine renewed refinery strikes Monday after a two-week pause (Kstovo/NORSI ablaze); Russia's diesel export ban runs to Jan 31; with EU storage at 74.6% and Germany at 61%, a European gas-curb response is the TTF €150 case. A second Gulf LNG hit. Al Mayeda was the first Qatari carrier struck; Qatar "reserves the right to take measures." A loaded Q-Max hit is the Brent $130 / TTF €150 / 30Y 5.50% trigger in one headline. Mojtaba Khamenei. Has not appeared in public since taking office and communicates in writing; a succession or health rumour in Tehran during the window re-prices the deal probability to zero or to one in an hour.

Tue Nov 3	US midterm elections (polls close from 18:00 ET; results from ~20:00 ET; CA mail to Nov 10) · RBA 03:30 GMT (+25bp to 4.85% expected, ~80–87% priced; Bullock 04:30) · Tokyo closed (Culture Day) · JOLTS 10:00 ET (cons 7.06–7.11M; prior 7.079M) · Binance zk proof-of-reserves (by Tue UTC) · Farside Monday row · Earnings: AMD, Amgen, Arista, Shopify, Pfizer, Eaton, Marathon Petroleum, Booking, Ferrari, Apollo	Three binaries: the Senate (74% D), AMD after the close (the first AI print after Apple's margin guide), and the RBA's "sell the fact." Kalshi races to watch: TX Talarico 75, ME Jackson 73, OH Brown 71. A Democratic sweep is a fiscal negative already priced at 71%; a Republican Senate is the surprise (dollar-positive, 30Y-positive on AUMF restraint, oil-positive).

ISM services prices paid is the stagflation gauge. Nov 4 is the first day of the Israeli caretaker window and the Gulf officials' earliest date.

The written reply and a Vance–Rezaei date are the up-signals; NOTAMs and airspace closures the down-signals.
Nov 10–12	Oct CPI Tue Nov 10 (Cleveland nowcast +0.24% m/m / 3.74% y/y) · 10Y auction Nov 10 · 30Y auction Nov 12 · Knesset swearing-in ~Nov 10; Herzog mandate deadline Nov 11 · MSCI decision on Strategy (MSTR) Nov 11 · SLV FINRA short interest (Oct 31 settlement) ~Nov 10 · PPI	The CPI is the Fed's December input and the first energy-driven print after a $9 oil drop (too late for October's number). The 30Y auction after the refunding is the K3 test; a bid-to-cover below 2.40 is red.
Nov 16–29	Q3 13F deadline Nov 16 (Jane Street, Morgan Stanley, Goldman, JPM, Citadel, Susquehanna, Millennium on SLV/GLD/IBIT) · TIC September ~Nov 18 · APEC Shenzhen Nov 18–19 · Nvidia FQ3 ~Nov 19 · Fed minutes · OPEC+ 21-member ministerial Nov 29 · Deribit Nov 27 expiry $3.55B (max pain $80k) · Polymarket Hormuz deal by Nov 30 (25%)	The 13F cycle is the next institutional read on the metals and the BTC ETFs; the TIC is the foreign-selling read for K3; APEC is the window in which Beijing wants calm — and a reason to watch Taiwan the week after.

Manipulation-signal read. No new filings from the fast money this week and no new 500%+ flags; the only Q3 names on the tape are small RIAs and a London long/short fund long both metals at September 30. The structural pattern is unchanged: the Q4'25–Q1'26 concentration (Jane Street ⚠ +~50,000%, Susquehanna +470%, Citadel new) coincided with the run to $121.64; the Q1–Q2 exits coincided with the top; the Q2 banks (Goldman +68.5%, JPM +53.2%, Morgan Stanley +10.2%) are the accumulators into the drawdown; the FINRA short-interest print (+12.2% in the first half of October) shows the shorts pressing into the break. The week's two physical facts cut against each other: SLV took +146t of creations into a −9% week (the ETF channel is a buyer of the crash), while India's dealer premium collapsed from $6.50 to $0.45 (the physical tightness that drove the spring squeeze has eased on the permit window). Monday's +3.2% with RSI 22.8 is a short-covering bounce; the Nov 6 COT (Nov 3 positions) tells whether managed money flipped net short for the first time since February 2024 — if it did, the next squeeze has its fuel.

Read. GLD lost $1.1B in the week gold made a one-year low and the US ETF channel remains the marginal seller (−$663M across nine funds); the buyers are the PBoC (23 tonnes, its largest month in three years), Poland and Uzbekistan, and Chinese retail (a record 304t in domestic ETFs). That is the same divergence as silver — Western paper selling, Eastern physical buying — and Monday's +1.5% on a rates move is the first evidence the paper side has turned. The milestone to watch is downward: GLD AUM below $130B (last seen in the spring) would mark the capitulation; a WGC October print showing the first global ETF outflow since the summer is the likely trigger. Goldman's rotation (GLD −14.7%, SLV +68.5%) is the one house view on the tape that has been right on relative value and wrong on direction.

Read. The IBIT holder base has changed character in two quarters: the basis-trade cohort that was ~68,000 BTC of the register at the peak has left as the basis fell from 7.9% to 4.8%, and the buyers who replaced it (Gulf sovereigns, wealth channels, a university endowment) are slower money that does not add on dips. Friday's −$643M and the October −$516M are the mechanical consequence; Monday's row — the first after Binance reopened and the Nasdaq-100 fell 1.4% — is the datapoint that decides whether the desk's "the ETF channel reopens on the Nasdaq, not on Binance" thesis holds. Strategy is the holder that matters at the margin: 849,327 BTC bought at an average $75,451 against a $76.7k spot, an ATM that is now dilutive, an MSCI decision in nine days and a stock that fell 9.6% last week. The signal to watch for distribution is not a Strategy sale (it has never sold) but a Strategy pause — a week without an 8-K.

Houthis: Mon Nov 2 coalition intercepted a ballistic missile aimed at southern Saudi; Civil Defence alerts (then lifted) Abha, Khamis Mushait, Taif, Najran; Sun drone downed; Houthi source: Aramco within range, airlines warned off Saudi airspace except Mecca/Medina; coalition strikes on Ras Isa and Bajil [C]. Hezbollah: not engaged. Iraq militias: nothing in window. Iranian posture: Mojtaba Khamenei (Oct 31): respond "without geographic limits," a "vast theatre"; army spokesman: a new war "could last longer" and the US president "would not control its end" [C/CL]; RN/RAF designated terrorist organisations Nov 1 [C]. Reuters special report: MODAFL imported ≥$2B of hardware past the blockade via Russia/China/UAE rails, 97% settled "without currency transfer" [C].

US advantages Air and naval superiority on the record (Cooper: Iranian navy "at the bottom of the sea"; primary routes "free and clear," >1.5B bbl escorted, >3,000 vessels transited with support in six months); executable strike options in 96 hours; two carrier air wings plus land-based air from Jordan, Qatar, Saudi and Israel; the blockade itself (144 vessels redirected; rial −25% since Aug 24; Treasury: Iranian economy to contract >25% March-to-March); intelligence depth (DNI memo on "advanced-stage" plots; the Sylvia leak case shows the planning is detailed enough to leak).

Adversary advantages Geography — the strait is 21 miles wide and the IRGC needs only to keep the 7-day average at 9 crossings against 85 to hold the premium; missile and drone depth (≥609 launches since Jul 7; claimed "seven-fold" weapons output; the Reuters $2B procurement report says the inventory is being rebuilt through the blockade); the proxy ring (Houthis reaching Riyadh, Abha, the Eastern Province weekly; Hezbollah held in reserve); A2/AD in the northern Gulf (the Ras Al Khafji hit is 500nm from Hormuz — the whole Gulf is the engagement zone); the undersea-cable threat; and time — Washington's strike window is bounded by an election, a caretaker ally and a $47B bill, Tehran's is not.

War cost tracker Pentagon report to Congress: $47.1B through Oct 16 (7.5 months) ≈ $204M/day, ~$1.4B/week, ~$6B/month average — up from $25B (Apr) → $29B (May) → $37.5B (Jul) → $38B CBO (Sep) → $43.6B (Sep 18). Breakdown: munitions replacement $29B; USAF $7.6B; Army $2.1B; Navy $1.5B; damaged aircraft/munitions $6.1B; SOF transport $645M; excludes base repairs and fuel. CBO forward run-rate $2–3B/month. Supplemental: $87.6B (Jun 24; ~$32.7B war) unapproved; NYT: administration seeking up to $70B emergency; 97.5% of OBBBA funds obligated; IG: "strategic inventory shortfalls." Fiscal frame: FY26 deficit $2T (>half interest), debt >$40T (126% of GDP); CBO: the war adds +0.5pt to inflation into early 2027.

K2 · Stock market war impact

Bucket	Monday	Read
Energy (XLE)	−3.96%	Worst sector on the de-escalation day; the war's primary beneficiary gave back a tenth of its October gain in a session. Contrarian long on the supply-loss duration (Section E).
Defence / aerospace (LMT, RTX, NOC, GD, BA)	GAP (industrials +1.38%)	The group trades the supplemental, not the strike: $29B of munitions replacement is contracted regardless of a deal; a Democratic Congress funds and audits it. Industrials +1.38% says the sector held. Single-name closes not retrievable at compile.
Airlines / travel / discretionary	XLY +2.41%	The clearest deal-basket winners: discretionary led the S&P; European airlines led the STOXX 600 to a two-month high; Booking reports Tuesday. Riyadh KKIA departures were 94% cancelled Oct 10–27 — the group's upside is the airspace, not the oil price.
Financials / materials / staples	+1.86% / +1.76% / +1.58%	Lower long-end yields and cheaper energy; the rotation out of AI's financing (Section C). Materials on copper +1.3% and China support.
Cybersecurity / shipping	OKTA −11.2% · tankers GAP	Okta on its own print; the Binance hack has not re-rated the group. Tanker rates: the Hormuz discount persists at 9 crossings/day — a deal is bearish VLCC rates (ton-miles collapse as the Gulf reopens).

Historical pattern. Gulf War 1991: S&P −17% into the air campaign, +25% in the six months after it began. Iraq 2003: −14% into the invasion, +30% in twelve months from the March low. Libya 2011: −6% over the intervention, flat on the year. The pattern is consistent — the drawdown precedes the engagement and the rally begins when the uncertainty ends, whichever way. Current drawdown: S&P −3.5% from the October high and +10.1% YTD; the Nasdaq-100 −10.8% from Oct 5 — but that correction is the AI complex, not the war. The equal-weight index is at its highs. The 1991/2003 template says a strike is the buy signal for the index; Monday's template says a deal is the buy signal for everything except energy and the index's largest ten names.

#	Indicator	Status	Latest read
1	War spending fiscal blowout	AMBER	$47.1B through Oct 16 (~$204M/day); CBO run-rate $2–3B/month ≈ $6–9B/quarter unbudgeted — below the $50B/quarter red line; but $70B emergency request (NYT) + $87.6B supplemental unapproved and the election decides who writes it. Red if the supplemental exceeds $50B in one bill.
2	CPI re-acceleration	AMBER	Sept headline 3.7% (3.4), energy-driven; core 2.6%; PCE +0.5% m/m. Oct nowcast +0.24% m/m — green if it prints Nov 10; Monday's −8% oil is November's number, not October's. ISM prices paid 75.2 still >70.
3	Term premium expansion	AMBER	ACM ~0.89–0.92% (stale; Monday GAP). The 30Y at 5.27% with a 2s10s of +31 and 5s30s ~+60 says the premium is in the long end, not the belly. Monday's long-end-led rally is the first contraction signal in a month.
4	Treasury auction demand	AMBER	10Y Oct 7: 5.300%, BTC 2.77, indirects 80.3% (strong). 30Y Oct 8: 5.618%, BTC 2.54, indirects 72.3% (soft). 7Y Oct 29: 4.894%, 2.46. Next: refunding Wed, 10Y Nov 10, 30Y Nov 12. Red on a 30Y BTC below 2.40.
5	Foreign holder selling	RED	TIC August: Japan −$35.6B (4th straight month), China −$27.3B (3rd straight); official bills −$42.2B. Private foreign buying (+$90.9B LT Treasuries) is replacing it — a faster, less stable holder. September TIC ~Nov 18.
6	Fed rhetoric shift	GREEN	No tolerance signalled: Musalem "soon," Logan "at least two more," Barkin "pace," Goolsbee "anything on the table." Dec hike 76%. A hawkish Fed is bearish the belly and bullish the long end — green for this indicator.
7	Fiscal deficit trajectory	RED	FY26 deficit $2T (>50% interest), debt >$40T (126% of GDP); Q4 borrowing $618B, Q1-27 $800B; TBAC flagged a $1.5T FY27–28 shortfall; CR cliff Dec 11; Dem sweep 71% (ING: mildly USD-negative). Moody's Zandi: "early signs of discomfort… vicious cycle."
8	Credit rating watch	GREEN	No new action. Fitch's April pressure warning stands; no agency has moved on the war cost. Watch post-election commentary.
9	2s10s bear-steepening	GREEN	Monday was a bull-flattener: 2s10s +38 → +31bp with the long end leading. The October move (+38 from ~+25) was a bull-steepener (2Y leading). No bear-steepening on the tape; the risk is Wednesday's refunding reversing it.
10	MOVE index	GREEN	~100–101 (TradingView; exact Monday close GAP). Below 120; bond vol compressed through an 8% oil move. Red above 120.

Summary: AMBER — 2 red (foreign selling, fiscal trajectory) + 4 amber (war spending, CPI, term premium, auctions) · unchanged from Nov 2 in count, improved in direction: the long end rallied 4bp on oil and the curve bull-flattened. Wednesday's refunding is the next state change — 20Y/30Y size cuts turn #3 and #4 green; coupon-increase language turns #4 and #9 red and the summary RED.

Gold & silver safe-haven analysis

Gold/oil 37.7 · G/S 78.0

Gold +1.5% $3,957 · −12% below 200-DMA (~$4,490) · Silver +3.2% $50.68

Gold rose on the de-escalation day — the safe-haven test is failed and the rates test is passed: gold in this war trades inversely to the war's inflation impulse. Gold/oil from 78 (Jan) → ~34 (Fri) → 37.7 (Mon); a deal takes it to 45–50, a strike to 30. Silver split: industrial demand is the weak leg (JPM: solar −30% in 2026, ~60 Moz; possible surplus) and monetary/physical is the strong one (India ~6,500t permits ≈ 209 Moz, 90% of 2025's imports; Shanghai premium ~+10%; SLV +146t into the crash; Comex Dec OI 3.96× registered). Escalation vs de-escalation phases Escalation (Oct, Brent +13.6%): BTC −7.7%, ETF −$516M. Strike-window peak (Fri Oct 30): BTC −3%, ETF −$643M. De-escalation (Mon Nov 2, Brent −7.6%): BTC −2.0%, NDX −1.4%, gold +1.5%. Bitcoin has fallen in every phase; the variable is the Nasdaq, not the war.

Correlation: S&P vs gold Block Scholes (Oct 15): BTC–gold 90d 51% (highest since 2020), BTC–S&P ~40% (from 62% Feb). Live read: Monday's tape (BTC with NDX, against gold) says the 90-day statistic is lagging a regime change back to equity beta that began with the ETF outflows in mid-October. No fresher published figure (GAP).

Sanctions evasion Iran: $7.8B USDT in a year (Senate HSGAC); 846 sanctioned wallets, 87% USDT; Tether froze ~$550M Iran-linked in 2026; OFAC designated CBI wallets ($131M); DOJ $61M forfeiture tied to $1.5B Hexa Whale/Blessed Trust flows, $443M to China via Binance accounts. DPRK: the Binance proceeds (~$3.2B residual) are being laundered at $100M+/day through Tron, THORChain, Relay, Chainflip. No new state-actor evidence in the last 48h beyond DPRK.

Stablecoin market cap $296.2B (DefiLlama; −1.37% 7d; USDT 60.7%) — the 7-day decline is the Binance exit, not Gulf capital flight. Prior-series $315.9B is a scope difference. Tether/Circle freezes: ~$1.8B / $824M hack-linked.

Mining hash rate 1,069 EH/s; difficulty 148.4T (record); hashprice $33.1k/EH/day (−14% m/m); Nov 13 adjustment modelled −1.45%. Monday's −8% oil / −10% TTF is margin relief; the Oct 29 +5.54% difficulty step into a $76k price is the squeeze. Core Scientific −14% Fri.

DeFi TVL $85.1B (+0.24% 24h); Hyperliquid $1.93B (+10% 7d); Aave carrying the attacker's 19,762 ETH loan. No geopolitical TVL signature — the TVL moves are hack-driven.

Historical crises Russia–Ukraine 2022: −8% in 48h, +15% the next week, −60% into the Fed. Israel–Hamas 2023: +25% in a month (ETF filing). Jun 2025 Israel–Iran: −6%, recovered in 4 days. This war: −39% from ATH over 8 months, a hawkish Fed, a hacked venue. The Fed is the variable in every case.

Polymarket Hormuz agreement by Nov 30: 25% (unch) · by Dec 31: 33% (unch) · Iran–Oman route Nov 30: 26%

Up-signals: a draft "circulated for feedback" after three days in Doha, negotiators left "not because of any problems," follow-up "in the coming days," Qatari mediators in Tehran Nov 2; Pezeshkian: the Supreme Leader "has given certain authorities to the government"; Trump "No" on strikes, "Iran wants a settlement, as soon as possible. It could happen!"; Vance: "a pathway there," "pretty good about the prospects," no deadline; Araghchi: consultations "very intensive"; the two-day formula compressed from seven. Down-signals: Reuters' Iranian officials privately see attack as "more likely than a deal"; "altered proposals but no breakthrough"; Baghaei: no reopening until the blockade ends, nuclear talks only after verification, HEU transfer "no"; Kayhan: the nuclear fold-in is a "deceptive plan"; MP Maleki floats NPT withdrawal; the written reply still undelivered; Washington still wants nuclear concessions first; the prediction market did not move on the draft. Watch: the text (Mon–Wed), a US statement on blockade/sanctions sequencing, a Vance–Rezaei date, the Nov 30 contract through 35%.

Polymarket no-strike ladder (Oct 29): by Nov 8 68.5% · Nov 15 48% · Nov 30 34.5% · Dec 31 23.5% — Nov 2 print GAP

Triggers: Netanyahu pressed for strikes "immediately after" Nov 3 (Axios); MS NOW's three Gulf officials: as early as Nov 4, "short but intense"; CENTCOM preparations complete, Cooper briefed Trump Oct 30; Fort Bliss airlift, additional Patriot, forces moved; Trump's "at some point we're going to have to give them the hammer" (Sun) and "Pickaxe Mountain… 10 minutes. We have that planned"; the caretaker window closes Nov 10–11; the DNI's "advanced-stage" plots — a successful one needs no window; a tanker hit 500nm from Hormuz on Nov 1. Restraints: Trump's "No" — the first unambiguous answer of the campaign; Vance's no-deadline; "we haven't been doing any fighting for months"; defence officials: no strike absent Iranian surprise-attack prep; Gulf states (Gargash: "we don't really want to see another round") and Egypt pressing against; the third CSG and second ARG not in theater until end-November; a 71%-probability Democratic Congress that litigates the AUMF; Eisenkot's incoming government backing only "direct, immediate threats"; Brent already −8%. Timing: the desk's median moves from ~Nov 20 to ~Nov 25; the Nov 4–11 window stays live because an Israeli caretaker and a Houthi-Aramco hit are triggers Washington does not control.

Major Gulf export-capacity loss within 30 days

13% [prev 15%]

Conditional on strikes: ~28% (unch)

Lowered with the strike probability, held conditionally: the target set widened last week (Al Mayeda was the first Qatari LNG carrier struck; Khamenei's "all tangible and intangible assets"; the undersea-cable threat; Iran's oil ministry has ordered "passive defence" and pre-announced reciprocity against "neighbours' energy infrastructure"). Houthi salvos reached southern Saudi again Monday (BM intercepted; Abha, Khamis, Taif, Najran alerts; Aramco "within range"). Ras Tanura's cracker was hit a week ago with exports unimpeded — the next hit on a loaded VLCC inside the Gulf, Abqaiq, or a Q-Max with cargo is the Brent $130+ / TTF €150 / 30Y 5.50% trigger. Iraq's recovery (>3.4 mb/d) is the offsetting supply fact.

Diplomatic channels

Qatar is the live channel and has moved from Doha to Tehran: three consecutive days of talks ended Sunday with the Iranian delegation (Deputy FM Gharibabadi; Ghalibaf remains chief negotiator under SNSC oversight) leaving "not because of any problems," a draft "circulated for feedback," Qatari mediators back in Tehran on Monday, and a follow-up "in the coming days." Two tracks and a sequencing problem, unchanged. The Hormuz track: Baghaei's two-day formula — day one the US ends the port blockade, issues an oil-sales waiver and cancels new sanctions; day two Iran reopens the strait; then "talks on other issues" — against Rezaei's seven demands (end the blockade; release frozen assets, ~$6B in Qatar; remove oil sanctions; halt military action against Iran and allies; withdraw US forces from around Iran; war-damage compensation; a seventh unspecified) and an Iran–Oman route "under Iranian management." Washington's position (Rubio, Oct 31; Vance, Nov 2) is that nuclear commitments come first — "a firm commitment and a verifiable commitment that they don't rebuild." The nuclear track: Kayhan says Tehran rejected the US proposal to fold the nuclear file into the Qatar talks (400kg of 60% HEU diluted or moved abroad plus inspections — "a deceptive plan"); Baghaei says nuclear talks follow verification of every condition and the HEU transfer is "no"; MP Maleki says the Vance letter aims to "deepen divisions" and floats NPT withdrawal if the war continues; the IAEA cannot verify ~440kg of HEU. The Vance letter (Oct 25) has been read, praised for its tone, discussed with the Supreme Leader per US intelligence, and not answered; Vance has set no deadline. Pezeshkian's statement that Mojtaba Khamenei "has given certain authorities to the government" is the most important sentence of the weekend and the least specified — the scope is not stated, the Leader has not appeared in public since taking office and communicates in writing, and Araghchi's "fully informed… makes decisions" is the only description of the process. Pakistan is facilitating (Araghchi); Oman is engaged (window GAP); Egypt's Abdelatty warns a second round would be "more dangerous, more destructive"; Gargash (UAE): "we don't really want to see another round of confrontation"; China (Wang Yi) for "political solutions rather than resorting to arms again"; Russia's MFA: "extreme concern." Israel has no government to co-sign anything: Herzog's consultations begin Wednesday with Eisenkot at 60 recommendations to Netanyahu's 46 (Liberman's 7 and UTJ's 7 undecided; 67 if Liberman folds), a mandate deadline of November 11, a unity track with Herzog and Trump floated as "guarantors," and a caretaker Prime Minister who told the President on Saturday to strike "immediately after" the election and was told, on Monday, "No."
