⚠ TAPE READ (Q3 close): Inflation came in cooler (Aug PCE 3.4% vs 3.7% expected; core 3.0% vs 3.3%) and the bond market sold off anyway — 10Y 5.289% and 30Y 5.632% are fresh 52-week highs (30Y highest since 2002). That is a term-premium move, not an inflation move. S&P 500 closed a losing September at 7,651 (−0.3%) while Nasdaq +0.2% on Micron's $54.2B quarter. Trump: Iran ends "very soon, one way or another" — US counterproposal is on Tehran's desk; three tankers were hit in Hormuz on Sept 29. NFP Friday. Position for a binary week.

A · Executive Summary — The Big Picture (Dalio Lens)

Where we are: Late cycle, with a two-speed economy. Nominal activity is still hot — Q2 GDP was finalized at 2.2% (vs 1.5% expected), ADP printed +90k, Micron just guided a $61.5B quarter — but real-economy breadth is thinning: GDPNow for Q3 was cut to 3.7% from 5.0% in one revision, consumer confidence sits at a 12-year low, mortgage rates are 7.30% and rising for a sixth week, and 2 million Americans have been jobless 27+ weeks despite a 4.1% unemployment rate. The regime is rising nominal growth, sticky-but-decelerating inflation, and expanding term premium — stagflation-adjacent, not stagflation. Core PCE at 3.0% is the best print of the year; headline CPI 3.4% is still carrying a 27% YoY gasoline passthrough from the war.

Beautiful deleveraging status: not happening. The Fed hiked to 3.75–4.00% on Sept 16 and is now signalling patience (Williams: "no need for urgency"; October hike odds collapsed from 70% to ~37%). Meanwhile fiscal policy is levering: $43.6B of direct CENTCOM war cost through mid-September (CBO ~$40B, Bilmes $2B/day all-in), an unfunded supplemental, and foreign private investors net sold $29.1B of notes and bonds in July (TIC). The long end is repricing fiscal risk independently of inflation — exactly the sequence Dalio describes when a reserve-currency sovereign runs war deficits late in a long-term debt cycle. Policy is adequate for inflation; it is inadequate for the fiscal arithmetic.

Risks vs opportunities: The risk is a disorderly long-end — a 30Y through 5.75% breaks the 22x forward multiple before it breaks the economy, and the MOVE index (106.6, +4.7% on the day, a dataset record) says rates vol is already waking up. The opportunity is that the cooler PCE and a patient Fed create a window where front-end duration, gold, and quality defense/energy cash flows all work simultaneously; a ceasefire outcome (we assign 30%) would produce a violent, short-lived relief rally that is sellable above SPX 7,850.

Great-power frame: Washington is simultaneously negotiating with Tehran (via Pakistan/Qatar) and executing a full withdrawal from Iraq (completed Sept 30). Beijing is accumulating gold at a record clip (+650k oz in August, 22nd straight month) and absorbing Gulf crude at a discount; Moscow is the structural beneficiary of a $100+ Brent. The triangle is positioned for a managed de-escalation that leaves the US fiscally weaker and China's reserve diversification stronger — a slow-burn dollar-share erosion, not a crash.

C · Cross-Asset Analysis — Druckenmiller Lens

Bonds vs equities: the divergence widened on a day it should have narrowed. Soft PCE should have rallied duration. Instead the 10Y rose 3.4bp to 5.289% and the 30Y to 5.632%. When yields rise on good inflation news, the marginal buyer is pricing supply and term premium, not the Fed. The equity market is choosing to see the AI earnings channel (Micron FQ4 revenue +379% YoY, 87% gross margin, FQ1 guide $61.5B vs $57.0B street) and ignore the discount-rate channel. That works until the 30Y clears 5.75%; at that point the equity risk premium goes negative versus long Treasuries and the multiple does the adjusting. The Dow (−0.9%) is already telling you the non-AI economy is being repriced.

Risk assets vs safe havens: Gold at $4,211 (+0.75%) on a day the dollar firmed and real yields rose is the cleanest signal in the tape: gold is trading as the fiscal hedge, not the rate hedge. BTC at $83.6K is flat, −3% on the week, and still −27% YoY — it is a liquidity/beta asset that happens to be in a 9-day ETF inflow streak. The gold/BTC ratio keeps making new highs. Oil is bid (+2.4% Brent) on tanker strikes rather than on demand; that is a tax on consumers, not a growth signal.

Liquidity: contracting at the margin, with a fiscal offset. Fed balance sheet still shrinking; BoJ is pinned by a 157 yen; PBoC is adding gold rather than easing aggressively into Golden Week; ECB is frozen by a 3.3% German print. Foreign private money is a net seller of US coupons (July TIC −$29.1B notes/bonds) while official accounts buy bills (+$38.8B). The bill-heavy financing mix is the stealth liquidity injection keeping risk assets afloat — and it is also why the long end has to clear on its own.

Dollar implications: DXY 101.5 is remarkably weak for a 5.3% 10Y and a hiking Fed. The dollar is capped by the fiscal premium and by the Treasury's own interest in a softer currency. Implication: a 104+ breakout requires a risk-off/Hormuz shock (safe-haven bid), not a rate story. Below 100 is the tail if the term-premium blowout accelerates and foreign official buyers follow private money out. For EM and commodities, a weak-dollar/high-yield combination is historically the best setup for gold and the worst for long-duration tech.

D · All-Weather Scenario Matrix (Dalio)

▲ Growth · ▲ Inflation — CURRENT (prob. 35%)

Long: energy, gold, TIPS, defense primes, memory/AI capex beneficiaries
Short: long-duration Treasuries, unprofitable growth, consumer discretionary
FX: long CHF/gold; underweight JPY; dollar range-bound
Tell: Brent $102 + GDPNow 3.7% + 10Y 5.29%

▲ Growth · ▼ Inflation — Goldilocks (prob. 20%)

Long: QQQ, IG credit, small caps, EM
Short: gold, defensives
Trigger: core PCE ≤0.2% MoM for 3 months + ceasefire + Brent <$85
Probability rising after today's PCE — this is the "pain trade" for bears

▼ Growth · ▲ Inflation — Stagflation (prob. 30%)

Long: gold, cash, short-dated TIPS, defense, energy
Short: cyclicals, retail, airlines, long bonds
Trigger: Hormuz escalation + NFP <50k + confidence collapse continuing
Watch: 12-year-low confidence, 7.30% mortgage, 2M long-term unemployed

▼ Growth · ▼ Inflation — Deflation Bust (prob. 15%)

Long: long Treasuries, USD, quality defensives
Short: commodities, EM, HY credit
Trigger: credit event from 7%+ mortgage / CRE, or bond-market accident forcing emergency Fed
Lowest-probability but highest-convexity quadrant for duration longs

Assessment: We are in ▲/▲ and the vector moved toward Goldilocks today on inflation data, but toward stagflation on the yield and confidence data. The arbiter is the long bond: if 30Y breaks 5.75% with Brent above $100, stagflation becomes the base case regardless of what core PCE prints. If the US-Iran counterproposal lands and Brent breaks $90, Goldilocks probability doubles. Oil remains the single most important variable; the NFP print Friday is second.

E · Sector & Theme Spotlight

Momentum / Inflection

Memory / AI capex supercycle (MU, SK Hynix, Samsung, TSMC, AMAT/LRCX/TOEL): Micron FQ4 revenue $54.2B (+379% YoY), 87% gross margin, FQ1 guide $61.5B, capex $25B in H1 FY27 and rising. HBM and data-center SSDs (~$10B quarter, 10x YoY) are growing faster than company revenue. This is a pricing supercycle — a 90% gross margin data-center segment is the kind of number that ends in overbuild, but not this quarter. Stock −1% after hours on +238% YTD is a position-crowding tell, not a fundamental one.
Gold & miners (GLD, IAU, GDX, NEM, AEM): August global gold-ETF inflows $18B (second-largest month ever), holdings 4,189t ATH, ETF AUM ~$615B; September another ~$9B. PBoC bought 650k oz in August — its largest month since resuming purchases. Gold is now 27% of global official reserves, above Treasuries (ECB). Miners at $4,200 gold are generating 8–11% FCF yields and remain under-owned.
Uranium / nuclear (CCJ, URA, URNM, UUUU): Spot $90/lb (from $86.36 end-July); utilities 35–40% uncovered for 2026 and ~70% for 2027–28; structural 30–40 Mlb/yr deficit. Hyperscaler PPAs are the demand kicker; $99 is the breakout.

Contrarian / Second-Level (Howard Marks)

Front-end Treasuries (2Y at 4.89%, SHY/VGSH): Consensus is "two more hikes." Williams just took October below a coin flip and core PCE is 3.0%. If the terminal rate is 4.25% and not 4.75%, the 2Y is 30–50bp too cheap. This is the asymmetric duration trade — not the 30Y.
Chinese equities into Golden Week (KWEB, FXI, MCHI): PMIs beat (non-mfg 50.2 vs 49.3 exp; RatingDog mfg 52.1), markets are closed until Oct 9, and nobody wants the headline risk. Everybody is underweight. A post-holiday stimulus signal into a closed market produces a gap, not a trend — buy the ADRs ahead of reopening, not after.
Airlines / travel (JETS, DAL, UAL): Universally shorted on $100 Brent and the Flydubai hijack attempt. Second-level: a ceasefire takes Brent to $85 in a week; airline equity is the highest-beta ceasefire call option in the market. Small, defined-risk, via calls.
Consumer staples (XLP): Crowded as a "defensive." At 7.30% mortgages and a 12-year-low confidence print, the consumer is weakening — but staples multiples already embed that. The real defensive is 6-month bills, not XLP.

F · Crypto Deep Dive

BTC / ETH Technical & On-Chain

BTC $83,600 — flat on the day, −3% WTD, +6.9% in September (fourth consecutive green September, longest on record), +43% in Q3 (best quarter since Q4 2024), yet −27% YoY and 34% below the $126,198 ATH (Oct 6, 2025). The 8-month high at ~$87,400 earlier in September is the resistance; $82,000 is the support that has held all week. On-chain: average unrealized gain 33% (highest since Dec 2024) and 25,700 BTC of realized profit on Sept 22 (largest single-day of 2026) — holders are selling into strength. CryptoQuant's futures-demand gauge collapsed ~90% in 15 days (164k BTC → 16k) — leverage has been flushed, which is bullish for stability and bearish for impulse. 90-day correlation to SPX remains positive (~0.6); to gold negative.

ETH $2,687 — −0.4%, +8.9% in September, −36.5% YoY, 46% below ATH. ETH/BTC 0.0321 — still sitting on cycle lows; no rotation signal. ETH ETFs −$2.8M on Sept 29 against BTC ETF +$66.2M — institutional preference is unambiguous.

Regulatory / Institutional Flow

Spot BTC ETFs: Sept 29 +$66.19M (IBIT +$51.09M, ARKB +$33.24M, BITB −$18.14M, FBTC/GBTC flat) — ninth straight day of inflows; ~$3B over 8 sessions; week ended Sept 25 +$2.4B. The institutional bid is intact while futures leverage disappears — that is accumulation, not speculation.
CLARITY Act failed cloture Sept 15 (49–50). Second-level outcome: the SEC immediately issued a 5-year "innovation exemption" for tokenized US equities, staff guidance clearing token buybacks, and Coinbase retained GENIUS-Act stablecoin rewards the bill would have banned. BTC +11% and total crypto cap $2.65T → $2.95T since the vote. Regulation by exemption is faster but reversible by the next administration — a 2028 tail risk, not a 2026 one.
Stand With Crypto rolled out its first Senate endorsements ahead of the Nov 3 midterms — crypto is now a single-issue voting bloc in at least 4 Senate races.
Jane Street Q2 13F (filed Aug 14): 11,385 positions, $1.21T notional (from $777B in Q1) — options-heavy; SPY/QQQ/MU puts dominate. The firm remains the largest single institutional holder of both IBIT and SLV.

War Impact on Crypto (Iran War Day 215)

BTC vs gold since Feb 28: gold roughly +25% (from ~$3,350 pre-war to $4,211); BTC roughly −30% (from ~$120K to $83.6K). Verdict unchanged: Bitcoin is a risk-on tech proxy in this conflict, not digital gold. The ETF bid (+$3B in 8 sessions) has stabilized price but not restored the safe-haven narrative.
Escalation vs de-escalation: Tanker strikes Sept 29 → BTC −1.5% intraday, recovered; Trump "very soon" remark → no reaction. Crypto is currently insensitive to Iran headlines at the margin — the correlation that matters is to the 10Y yield and to Nasdaq.
Stablecoins (capital-flight proxy): total supply $305.8B (DefiLlama; +0.97% w/w), USDT $183.8B (+0.2%), USDC $74.6B (−1.7%). Trackers using broader methodology show ~$318–321B ATHs in September. USDT growing while USDC shrinks = offshore/EM demand up, US-onshore demand flat — consistent with sanctions-adjacent and Gulf capital flight.
Sanctions evasion: No evidence of state-level BTC settlement by Tehran; Tron/USDT remains the rail for Iranian trade finance. Russia-Iran-China crypto settlement pilots remain small relative to yuan/rouble bilateral trade. e-CNY/mBridge volumes are the structural threat to SWIFT, not crypto.
Mining: hash rate ~934 EH/s (below the 1 ZH/s peak), difficulty 127.45T (+1.31%), hashprice $39.63/PH/day (+22% in 30 days). MENA energy prices are irrelevant to US/Central-Asian-dominated hash; US nat gas at $3.02 is a tailwind for domestic miners.
Historical analog: Russia-Ukraine (Feb 2022): BTC −20% in 5 days, recovered in 8 weeks. Iran 2026: BTC −34% from ATH, 8 months elapsed, three failed recovery attempts. Worse than 2022 because the shock is rates, not just risk.

G · Conviction Views & Trade Ideas

1. Long Gold (GLD / IAU) + Miners (GDX) HIGH

Thesis: fiscal dominance + record central-bank buying (PBoC +650k oz Aug) + record ETF inflows + term-premium expansion. Gold rallied on a strong-dollar, higher-real-yield day — that is a regime signal. R/R: target $4,700 (12m) vs stop $3,950 (−6.2%) ≈ 2.0:1 on GLD; ~3:1 on GDX. Levels: support $4,150 / $4,050; resistance $4,250 then price discovery.

2. Long 2Y Treasury / Front-End Steepener (2s30s) HIGH

Thesis: the Fed is near terminal (Williams: no urgency; core PCE 3.0%), but the long end must clear war-deficit supply without foreign private buyers. 2s10s widened to +40bp from +33bp in a week; 2s30s +74bp. Target 2s10s +75bp. The trade wins in both Goldilocks (front end rallies) and stagflation (long end sells). Invalidation: a 2Y above 5.10% (Fed re-accelerating).

3. Short 30Y Treasury Outright (TLT puts / TBT) MEDIUM

Thesis: 30Y at 5.632%, highest since 2002, rising on cooler inflation. MOVE at a dataset high. 30Y auction demand is the catalyst. R/R is medium only because a Hormuz shock produces a flight-to-quality bid in the first 48 hours before the fiscal math reasserts. Levels: 5.75% is the equity-breaking line; 5.45% is the stop.

4. Long Defense Basket (ITA / LMT / RTX / NOC) MEDIUM

Thesis: $43.6B of war cost is almost entirely munitions ($22.3B through June) that must be replenished over 4+ years regardless of ceasefire; FY26 adds $20.4B for munitions supply chains; a supplemental is pending. Downgraded from HIGH: a 30% ceasefire probability implies a 10–15% headline drawdown in the names — size accordingly, add on a ceasefire dip.

5. Long Memory / AI Infrastructure on Pullbacks (MU, SOXX) MEDIUM

Thesis: Micron's guide ($61.5B / $38.15 EPS) is 8% above consensus; data-center SSD 10x YoY. The after-hours fade on a beat is the market saying "fully positioned," not "cycle over." Buy MU below $980 (−8% from close) with a $900 stop; SOXX on a 5% pullback. Do not chase.

6. Long VIX Call Spreads into NFP + Iran Decision LOW (portfolio hedge, not a view)

VIX 16.0 with skew at 144.6 and MOVE at a record is the cheapest equity insurance relative to rates insurance in this cycle. Nov 20/30 call spread ≈ $1.00; 25bp of portfolio. Binary week: NFP Friday, Trump "very soon" on Iran, 30Y supply, CPI Oct 14.

H · Risk Radar

Top 3 Tail Risks

Long-end accident: a weak 30Y auction (bid-to-cover <2.20, tail >3bp) with 30Y already at 5.63% takes it to 5.90–6.00% in days. At that level the equity risk premium is negative and systematic de-risking (vol-control, risk parity) is mechanical. The Fed's only tools are buybacks or YCC talk — both dollar-negative, gold-positive.
Iran binary resolves to "blow them up": Trump has framed the decision as imminent. Resumed strikes + Hormuz re-closure → Brent $140–160, stagflation becomes base case, SPX −15%, bonds sell off with stocks (no diversification). The Fairford plot and the Flydubai hijack attempt are the kind of asymmetric events that convert a 20% tail into a 40% one overnight.
Labor non-linearity: consensus NFP +90–100k. A print below +25k with the unemployment rate ticking to 4.3% — against a 12-year-low confidence reading and 2M long-term unemployed — flips the narrative from "no urgency" to "the Fed hiked into a slowdown." Front end rallies violently, cyclicals break.

What would change the base case?

Iran accepts the US counterproposal sequencing → Brent <$85 → Goldilocks probability to 40%; sell defense, buy airlines/EM/duration
Core PCE 0.2% MoM again in September + NFP soft → Oct hike off, Dec hike <50% → front-end rally, 2s10s +60bp
China post-Golden-Week stimulus >¥2T → commodity/EM re-rate; copper breakout; AUD squeeze

Black Swans on Peripheral Vision

Taiwan: PLA opportunistic pressure during Golden Week with US carriers rotating (GW on station, TR in transit, Lincoln returning home) — the Pacific is thin for two weeks
Russia second front: Baltic/NATO incident while US attention and munitions are in CENTCOM
Aviation terror wave: Fairford (UK base) + Flydubai Dubai–Tel Aviv hijack attempt in 48 hours — Gulf aviation and tourism are now a target set; Abraham Accords stress
JGB disorder: USD/JPY 157.4, MoF line at 158.9; a BoJ hike or intervention forces Japanese lifers to repatriate — the largest foreign holder of USTs becoming a net seller
US sovereign rating action: no new warning this week, but 5.6% 30Y + war supplemental is the setup; a Moody's/Fitch outlook change is a RED trigger in K3

J · Institutional Holder / 13F Changes — BTC, GLD, SLV ETFs

SLV ETF — Jane Street & Top Holders

Holder	Position	QoQ Change	Flag

Read: Jane Street's cash SLV position went from 41,100 to 20.7M shares in a single quarter (Q4 2025) — the largest institutional silver ETF position ever filed, and it coincided with silver's parabolic run to $121.62 (late Jan 2026) and 30% collapse. The firm's Q2 2026 13F (filed Aug 14, 2026; $1.21T notional, 11,385 lines) does not disclose share-level SLV detail in summary data; the next clean read is the Q3 13F due Nov 14. Jane Street is simultaneously the largest holder of IBIT (~$828M). Silver at $61 is 50% below the January peak with industrial demand (58% of total) intact — the manipulation narrative cuts both ways: a market maker that large is hedged, and the short-vol flow it provides is what crushed silver volatility back to 31.

GLD ETF — AUM & Top Holders

Global gold-backed ETF holdings: 4,189t (ATH), +121t in August; total AUM ~$615B. August global inflows $18B (2nd-largest month ever); North America $7.7B (from $71M in July). September ~$9B (Morningstar).
GLD AUM: above $120B at $4,211 gold — GLDM and IAU capturing the marginal advisor dollar on fee.
Top holders (Q2 13F): State Street affiliates, JPMorgan, Bank of America, Bridgewater (notable Q2 add), Paulson & Co. Hedge-fund category is accumulating; wirehouse category is flat.
PBoC: 76.73M oz (2,386.6t) at end-August, +650k oz (20.2t) in August — largest monthly add since resuming in Nov 2024; 22 consecutive months; $350B value; still <10% of reserves (vs ~27% global average). The runway is the story.
CBR (Russia): no fresh disclosure; Russia's reserve gold share is above 35% and rising via domestic purchase at a discount to LBMA. Both BRICS central banks are structural buyers into a US fiscal problem.

BTC ETFs — Daily & Cumulative Flows

Ticker	Sept 29 Flow ($M)	8-session Flow ($B)	Trend
IBIT (BlackRock)	+51.09	~+2.1	Dominant — 9-day inflow streak
FBTC (Fidelity)	0.00	~+0.4	Flat day; steady week
GBTC (Grayscale)	0.00	~−0.1	Outflows paused
ARKB (ARK)	+33.24	~+0.3	Second-strongest day
BITB (Bitwise)	−18.14	~+0.2	Single-day outflow
Total Complex	+66.19	~+3.0	Week ended Sept 25: +$2.4B; ETH ETFs −$2.8M on Sept 29

Institutional bid is intact at $82–84K while futures demand has evaporated (−90% in 15 days). Historically that combination — spot accumulation with leverage flushed — precedes the next impulse once macro vol compresses. The divergence to watch is ETF inflows persisting while BTC fails to hold $82K: that would be distribution by large holders into ETF demand.

K · Military Force Analysis & Market Impact — Iran War Day 215

K1 — Force Comparison Dashboard

Category	United States / Coalition	Iran / Axis of Resistance
Carrier strike groups	CVN-73 George Washington on station (CENTCOM); CVN-77 Bush in Arabian Sea (Phuket port call early Oct); CVN-71 Roosevelt departed San Diego Sept 27 to relieve GW; Lincoln returning after 314 days	Navy assessed "destroyed" (Hegseth); ~50 vessels hit in first 10 days; fast-boat / mine / drone swarm residual
Amphibious / ground	Boxer ARG in theater since Mar 18; Makin Island ARG (LHD-8, LPD-26, LPD-23) sailed Sept 28; 50,000+ personnel; Iraq withdrawal complete Sept 30 (OIR ended after 12 yrs)	IRGC ground forces intact; Basij mobilized; Houthi (active), Hezbollah (degraded), Iraqi PMF (US now absent from Iraq)
Air	36,000 combat sorties Feb 28–Apr 7; 5,000+ targets in opening 10 days; Task Force Falcon Strike drone unit (Bahrain joined Sept 30)	IRIAF assessed "destroyed"; residual ballistic/cruise missile and one-way drone capacity — 28 Kuwait / 35 UAE drone attacks logged
Cost / casualties	CENTCOM $43.6B (Sept 18); DoD $33.4B through June (munitions $22.3B, equipment losses $3.7B); CBO ~$40B; Bilmes all-in $2B/day, up to $1T; 19 US military deaths	~3,400 killed / 34,000+ injured (WHO, June); oil exports at a fraction of pre-war 2.1 mb/d; Bessent: economy "collapses within two weeks" as reserves deplete
Daily US burn rate	~$200M/day direct (CENTCOM run-rate) · ~$2B/day all-in (Bilmes)	—

Asymmetries: US holds total air/naval dominance and now "almost total control" of Hormuz (Trump) with flows at 93% of pre-war (21.8 vs 23.3 mb/d, Kpler) via protected night corridors. Iran retains the asymmetric set: tanker strikes by "unknown projectiles" (3 on Sept 29), overseas plots (RAF Fairford), aviation terror (Flydubai Dubai–Tel Aviv hijack attempt by an Omani copilot), and proxy depth. The US carrier rotation (GW → TR) creates a 10–14 day thin window in October.

Last 48h: Iran received the US counterproposal to its 7-day ceasefire plan (dispute is "sequencing"); IRGC says war ends only with US "admission of defeat"; Trump: "we blow them up or make a deal… very soon"; three tankers hit in Hormuz; US completes Iraq withdrawal; UK PM Burnham cites "strong indications" of Iranian involvement in the Fairford base plot; Flydubai suspends Israel flights.

K2 — Stock Market War Impact

Benefiting: Defense primes (LMT/RTX/NOC at or near records since March; FY26 adds $20.4B for munitions — LRASM $780M, AIM-120 $475M, AARGM-ER $325M), Energy (XLE), cybersecurity, Gulf-exposed shipping/insurers. Suffering: airlines (JETS), cruise lines, Gulf aviation (Flydubai/Emirates/Etihad traffic), European industrials via 8.3% German import inflation.
Historical pattern: Gulf War 1990 SPX −16% peak-to-trough then full recovery in 6 months; Iraq 2003 −14% pre-invasion then +26% in 90 days; Libya 2011 −8%/+12%. Current: SPX +11.8% YTD after 215 days of war — no material drawdown. Unprecedented, and entirely explained by AI capex earnings (Micron +379% YoY revenue) offsetting a 5.3% 10Y. Vulnerability is therefore concentrated: if memory/AI earnings disappoint, there is no war discount already in the price to cushion.
Defense tracker: LMT, RTX, NOC: record highs in March, consolidating since; GD: shipbuilding backlog bid; BA: trades on commercial deliveries, not war. ITA ~+30% YTD. China/Russia defense-industrial: AVIC/CSSC/Norinco-listed names in HK/Shenzhen are closed for Golden Week — reopening Oct 9 will show whether Beijing's posture shifted during the US-Iran binary.

K3 — Treasury Yield Spike Traffic Light Dashboard

#	Indicator	Current Reading	Signal
1	War spending fiscal blowout (>$50B/qtr unbudgeted → RED)	$43.6B cumulative (215 days) ≈ $18B/qtr direct; supplemental pending; all-in $2B/day	AMBER
2	CPI re-acceleration (>0.4% MoM energy-driven → RED)	Aug CPI +0.4% MoM (at threshold), gasoline +27.4% YoY; but PCE +0.3%, core +0.2% — cooler	AMBER
3	Term premium expansion (ACM 10Y)	10Y 5.29% vs core PCE 3.0% and FF 3.875% → implied term premium ~+90–100bp, cycle high; yields rose on soft PCE	RED
4	Treasury auction demand (10Y/30Y bid-to-cover)	30Y at highest since 2002 into Oct 8 auction; last 30Y b/c ~2.3 (below 2.45 avg)	AMBER
5	Foreign holder selling (TIC)	July: private net −$29.1B notes/bonds; official +$25.5B; bills +$38.8B; headline LT net −$27.9B	AMBER
6	Fed rhetoric — tolerance of higher inflation	Williams: "no need for urgency" at 3.7% inflation; Oct hike odds 70% → 37%. Patience = tolerance	AMBER
7	Fiscal deficit trajectory (CBO / supplemental)	FY26 deficit ~6–7% GDP; war supplemental unfunded; interest cost compounding at 5.3%	AMBER
8	Credit rating watch	No new agency warning this week; prior negative outlook stands	GREEN
9	2s10s bear steepening	+40bp from +33bp in a week; 2Y flat, 10Y/30Y up — textbook bear steepener	AMBER
10	MOVE Index (>120 → RED)	106.6 (+4.7%), highest in Saxo's dataset; Treasury-ETF vol +7.3%	AMBER

SUMMARY: AMBER — 1 RED, 8 AMBER, 1 GREEN. Not yet a 4-RED "spike imminent" configuration, but the composition is deteriorating: term premium is the RED, and indicators 4, 9 and 10 are one data point from flipping. Base case: 10Y 5.30–5.55% over 30 days. Trigger to RED: 30Y auction Oct 8 tail >3bp, or MOVE >120, or Sept CPI (Oct 14) >0.4% MoM.

K4 — Commodity War Premium

Brent: $102.56 (+2.4%) vs pre-war baseline ~$72 → war premium ~$30/bbl (peak $40+ in April). +11.6% MoM, +54% YoY. Hormuz crude flows at 93% of pre-war (21.8 vs 23.3 mb/d) — the premium is now refined-product and insurance driven, not crude-volume driven; fuel shipments remain constrained. Three tankers struck Sept 29 reversed a week of easing. Scenario targets: Goldman base $95–110 / stress $145; JPM closure case $180+. Iran exports a fraction of pre-war 2.1 mb/d; Bessent expects reserve depletion within two weeks. Iraq production stable with US ground presence now gone — PMF risk to southern fields is the new variable.

Gold / silver: Gold ~12% above its 200-day MA; gold/oil ratio ~41 (elevated; war-regime peaks exceed 50). Gold rose with yields and the dollar — fiscal-hedge regime. Silver $61.06, −0.2%, 50% below its January $121.62 blow-off; industrial demand ~58% of total (solar/electronics) vs 42% monetary; gold/silver ratio ~69 — silver is cheap to gold on a war basis. Central banks: PBoC +650k oz August (record month of the streak); gold now 27% of global official reserves, ahead of Treasuries.

Energy infrastructure: Kharg Island degraded; Gulf state facilities (Abqaiq, Ras Tanura) intact and exporting at or above pre-war rates; 28 Kuwaiti and 35 UAE drone attacks logged with "extensive damage" to downstream/refining — which is why product cracks, not crude, carry the premium. Repair timeline for Iranian export capacity: 18–36 months post-ceasefire.

K5 — War Impact on Bitcoin (summary; detail in F)

BTC −34% from ATH and −27% YoY across 215 days of war; gold +25% over the same window. Correlation to SPX ~0.6, to gold negative. ETF inflows (+$3B/8 sessions) are stabilizing, not re-rating. Stablecoin supply $306–321B (methodology-dependent) at or near ATH, USDT-led — capital-flight demand is real but flows into dollars-on-chain, not into BTC. Hash rate 934 EH/s unaffected by MENA energy. DeFi TVL range-bound; no stress signal. Analog: worse than Russia-Ukraine 2022 because the transmission channel is the 10Y yield, not just risk appetite.

Signals to Watch (Escalation)

Trump's Iran decision — he said it could come as soon as this afternoon; a strike order is the binary
IRGC "admission of defeat" rhetoric hardening → rejection of counterproposal sequencing
Tanker-strike cadence in Hormuz (3 on Sept 29 after a quiet week) and UKMTO advisories
Attribution of the Fairford plot and Flydubai incident to Tehran by UK/US/UAE — would collapse the Gulf mediation track
Iraqi PMF activity against southern oil fields now that OIR has ended

Signals to Watch (De-escalation)

Pakistan / Qatar / Oman readouts on "sequencing" compromise; Araghchi–Rubio contact
Trump denial of sanctions relief turning into conditional-relief language
Brent sustained below $95 and product cracks narrowing — the market's own ceasefire vote
Iranian oil-reserve depletion (Bessent's two-week clock) forcing Tehran to accept sequencing
Polymarket deal-by-year-end odds (last 67%) and ceasefire-extension markets re-rating above 80%
